Turkey the"other"Reader comment on item: What Turkey's Riots Mean Submitted by Mozere (United Kingdom), Jun 25, 2013 at 06:54 You are assuming that all Turkey is and will always be in thrall of Islamic orders and that normal social and economic rules do not apply as the Turks are the "other" ET like aliens where terrestial rules do not apply.See my entry under this item pointing out the dilemma facing the Islamists in Turkey. As if SA and Qatar will or even can subsidise a 75 million strong Islamic and millitant Sunni Turkey bereft of its present industries and tourism. Turkey an artificial Republic? It outlived the USSR and Yugoslavia .Kurds do have their grievances and these will be solved under democracy but they now live in the West of Turkey as well therefore ceding is not an option. In Turkey Kurd,Laz,Georgian,Albanian,Circassian etc all have equal rights and "Turk" means a citizen of Turkey notwithstanding ethnic origin. Our present PM Mr Erdogan is of ethnic Georgian origin, past President Mr Ozal wasKurdish. When do you think you will have an ethnic Turk of Greek nationality as a prime minister or even a minister in Greece?
