Erdogan is not the only problemReader comment on item: What Turkey's Riots Mean Submitted by Alexandros (United Kingdom), Jun 23, 2013 at 13:30 I do not know if it is a deliberate attitude or analysts actually miss an important point. All refer to Erdogan as being the problem or the authoritarian guy. The truth is that Erdogan is an efficient instrument, the music comes from the Islamic orders in Turkey. I have written thousands of times before, that Western type Democracy was never successfully established in Turkey and this is because such an application would mean the dissolutiont of the artificial Republic of Turkey. The economic success of Erdogan is due to a lot of reasons and it was necessary so to fulfill his goals and the goals of the Islamists. His biggest success though is that he managed to trick the Americans, that he had democratic ambitions, while instead he was just trying to substitute the Kemalist deep Turkish state with an Islamic one that he could absolutely control! He is just a few steps away from a total victory and this would mean big time trouble for every country in the region, Greece, Israel and Cyprus especially as once Efraim Inbar had predicted, but also and as the current situation evolves, trouble for Shia Muslims as well. This is the main reason of the latest protests in Turkey. In this the Islamists in Turkey and Erdogan will be fully supported by Qatar and Saudi Arabia, the economic hits that he might have to take is very possible to be irrelevant, if he succeeds in transforming Turkey in an Iranian like republic where his secret services will have everyone under control. The substitution of Erdogan with another Islamist and especially with Gul, might actually make things even worse! None of these is a solution.
