In addition to my previous commentReader comment on item: What Turkey's Riots Mean Submitted by Alexandros (United Kingdom), Jun 25, 2013 at 10:33 I am adding this comment, because there was an official American reaction to what is happening in Turkey, in fact there can not be a more official reaction since this came from the President himself. The President spoke on the phone with Erdogan and the only thing they discussed about the riots is the right of the people to free speech and the freedom to express themselves. In total the anouncement from the White House pretty much justifies the methods Erdogan is following and actively backs him up! Of course for all this the reason seems to be Syria! In any case and whatever happens and whatever his goals are, the current President is a disgrace for the Western world and it's values! There is no long term victory unless we keep our values and principles, only perhaps the satisfaction of temporary goals. The strategy the West is following leads to the certain defeat of Democracy even in the Western world, perhaps this is the final purpose of specific elites, perhaps Islamofascism does not sound so bad to them, after all the same was happening with Nazism, not all stood against it!
