I took this position for the gaza withdrawal, but the counterargument was
Reader comment on item: Jews Living in Palestine?

that the Arabs would kill the Jews and the IDF would have the herculean job of rescuing/saving them/retaking the territory. And I have the vague, but possibly erroneous, recollection that Dr. Pipes made that argument. Am I wrong? And would not that issue still apply to the present case?

If Gaza had been a different place in 2005, the Jews there could have continued to live in their houses. That's what I am predicating for the West Bank.
