A Sensible CompromiseReader comment on item: Jews Living in Palestine? Submitted by John W. McGinley (United States), Feb 10, 2014 at 08:50 It appears that you and the Prime Minister have the ability to engage a "both/and" -- rather than an "either/or" -- approach to and for a long-term peace between Palestinians and Israelis. Your point about Palestinians living in Nazareth and Jews living in Hebron is well-taken. One way or another Jews must be allowed to live in Hebron. It is one of the Four Holy Cities and for Hebron to be "free of Jews" would be sacriligious. If the Palestinians wish to get a state of their own they must accept a significant population of Jews -- living in safety and not "ghetto-ized" in a putative "Palestine -- just as Israel allows for a signficant population of "non-ghetto-ized" Palestinians in Israel. I hope Netanyahu maintains this subtle-but-workable compromise. Right-wing Jews would be making a terrible mistake if they bring down the Netanyahu coalition over this matter.
