Happy Valentine's Day to All Victims of Oppression, whether that be physical, emotional, or intellectual

Although I agree with Mr. Pipes premise about at risk Western civilization, I demur at his statement re: "his writing deteriorated after The Satanic Verses. Josef Anton,although autobiographical, therefore by nature stylistically different from his magical realism of his novels, was enthralling reading: a modern day suspense thriller en verite. His meticulous journal was impeccably written, searingly honest, and no lightweight chronicle. The issues raised in a relatively straightforward, albeit ironic but erudite manner were nourishing literary fare, indeed, and contribute significantly to this genre of literature.

The Moor's Last Sigh, Shalimar the Clown, and The Ground Beneath Her Feet were all magnificent, and lauded by his peers and the most redoubtable literary critics.

I have yet to have the pleasure of reading his other books.
