Possible Scenario
Reader comment on item: The West Lacks a Plan

During the first Iraq War, Israel was prevented from any retaliation against Iraq for fear of destroying the coalition. Would ISIL, should their fight against this new coalition falter, attack Israel drawing them into the conflict and thus seriously disrupting the coalition.
One thing we know is that Sunnis hates Shia and moderate Islam hates extreme Islam, but they all despise Israel----sometimes the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Israel is certainly in ISIS' sights. But Israel also disposes of the region's most powerful military force, so attacking it will wait for the right moment.
