Response to no boots on the ground

The Time for the locals (which I assume you mean the opposition) to defend themselves has long passed. The opposition is being squeezed the Assad regime ISIS or ISIL (as the obama adminstration sees it). We need to fund the opposition and supply more defense armaments. I would suspect we have special forces on the ground already in Syria.
