Do you think Obama merely wants no conflict with Iran or to align America with Islamic forces?Reader comment on item: Decoding the Obama Doctrine Submitted by Anon. (Israel), Apr 11, 2015 at 18:09 In any event, the former (if taken to extremes) leads to the latter. I can't help wondering if Obama's vision isn't of America standing shoulder to shoulder with countries like Iran, Turkey (perhaps telling them not to fight each other) and to move America from its present constellation to an Islamic constellation, one which he thinks will end friction between America and Muslim countries. This would also entail flogging Israel to show Iran that America can and will be their ally. Israel would then be treated as Iran was once. Ironically, the worse they behave, the more he might want to mollify them, since 'war' is out of the question. It is of course possible Obama wants America to always be 'neutral' on every international issue (he advised Britain to negotiate over the Falklands with Argentina - which isn't an awful position in and of itself but tells something about Obama), though even then I'm sure he'll be harsher on Israel than on Turkey/Iran/Qatar.
