The French have generally been good friends to the USReader comment on item: Finally Getting Serious about Identifying Islamists? Submitted by Michael S (United States), May 31, 2016 at 14:53 Hi, Jeff Your post got me to thinking. Yes, I suppose French lives do matter. In fact, as an American, I have a grudging respect for the snail-eaters. They are not our enemies, while the vast majority of countries in the UN are. They are our competitors: They are in second place, yes, but they do indeed try harder. I think it's commendable that the French are, after the US, the West's foremost military power. It's also commendable that the French language is spoken in some 30 countries, making it second only to English as a language of international communication. The French have been our true partners since the days of the American Revolution; but the Muslims attacking them have mostly been our enemies. This is worth keeping in mind, in this age of "political correctness". Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
