The knife is ready...Reader comment on item: Finally Getting Serious about Identifying Islamists? Submitted by Michael S (United States), Jun 11, 2016 at 22:04 Hi, Dhimmino I was raised Roman Catholic, and religiously attended Sunday Mass until age 18. I stopped going, even though my mother and step-father, along with my three sisters and their husbands, continued to practice Catholicism. My influence there, was spending a year overseas and living with a couple dozen irreligious men: My parents took it in stride. About seven years later, I had a personal experience with God and with Jesus, when lost in the forest. That episode changed my life: I became a Bible-believing Christian and began covenanting with a string of "Protestant" (i.e. "Non-Catholic") denominations. This partially estranged me from my family, so that three times, my mother told me: "You're not my son! My son died in California. You're not him." My conversion, then, did not come without a cost. For Muslims in Muslim-majority countries, the cost is even higher. Once I heard a talk by a Christian man who was a doctor in Somalia. He had an assistant, whose parents were aware of the doctor's religion. Whenever the young man went home to visit, his father would greet him at the door with the saying, "The knife is ready to cut the throat of any son of mine who becomes a Christian." That young man also ultimately converted. He was not beheaded, but his family did put him out. I dare say, religious change in the Middle East will come with extreme violence.
