"Creeping" ShariaReader comment on item: Two Opposing Views of the Islamist Threat Submitted by Pied Piper (Saudi Arabia), Aug 30, 2016 at 21:56 USD $120,000/year for a Bishop? Paid by the state? What an incentive to make the church your career! I wish I had been born a German...I could've faked it for that kind of remuneration – easily. No doubt the pay is tax free too! "Frederik" presents a fascinating topic of which I am totally ignorant. I had no idea the churches in Germany wielded such power and influence and were so entrenched in the system – it sounds almost medieval. But they would make a huge mistake in welcoming Islamic organizations as equal partners into their fold in the mistaken belief that "sharing" power and privileges with these Islamic bodies would strengthen their own legitimacy and credibility in holding on to these privileges. Islam brooks no competitors in the religious platform – not even "partners", not even for an inch. In this regard, it is totally uncompromising. Should Islam ever gain a permanent foothold in Germany is the sense that the Catholic/Protestant churches currently maintain, it would ultimately seek to annihilate its rivals, hook, line and sinker, no questions allowed. Many Western commentators have suggested that it is this "creeping" legitimizing of the Islamic Sharia into the Western societal fabric that is the real danger to "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness." In the US, this process is now well underway, at least superficially. (I must state, however, that compared to the Hispanicization (a real word) of US culture we've seen in the last 20 years, Muslim culture has made hardly a ripple.) Bottom line: It is in Europe that this battle will be won or lost – the numbers are getting to be overwhelming there. Pax Vobiscum
