As Raif Badawi would say: "Secularism is the answer!"Reader comment on item: Two Opposing Views of the Islamist Threat Submitted by Frederik (Germany), Sep 2, 2016 at 08:55 I share your view that German churches are wrong in believing that this integration of islamic organizations into the existing system of German religious organizations will work out good for them. However, German politicians from almost all parties believe, that creating a German islamic "Religionsunterricht" at schools that will be under control of the state is KEY to fighting radicalization. They face a huge problem: Unlike Christianity, Islam is not organized in trustworthy organizations. DITIB which represents the by far largest group of Muslims in Germany, the Turks, is under control of Erdogan and hence his extended arm. Just this week there was a report that a mosque organization tied to the Muslim Brotherhood will now be under surveillance of German domestic intelligence service. They were given 70.000€ by the German government as part of a project to foster democracy and tolerance. And these kind of reports can be read regularly: "Ministry of Education/ the Interior/ Justice starts cooperation with Islamic Organization XY. Politicians are very optimistic and believe that a reliable partner has been found." ... Three months later: "Antisemitic/Mysoginist/Fundamentalist preachers have been seen frequenting mosques of Islamic Organization XY." We will see what the future will bring. The core values of the Enlightenment, of Humanism and Enlightenment are seriously under attack, I believe. What saddens me: It seems that neither the right nor the left in Europe have really understood what Europe is about: Its secular-humanistic, modern culture.
