Info for Debanjan Banerjee about Libya, Syria and IraqReader comment on item: Did the CIA Fiddle With Population Statistics about Iran? Submitted by Prashant, Jan 26, 2018 at 03:43 Dear Dr Pipes, Islamic apologist, Debanjan Banerjee, claimed that Iraq, Libya and Syria were 'secular' countries and challenged me to refute his claims with facts. Here are the facts: Wikipedia says this about Libya: "the country's official religion is Islam, with 96.6% of the Libyan population being Sunni Muslims." Wikipedia says this about Syria (besides other things): The Personal Status Law 59 of 1953 (amended by Law 34 of 1975) is essentially a codified sharia.[121] Article 3(2) of the 1973 constitution declares Islamic jurisprudence a main source of legislation. The Code of Personal Status is applied to Muslims by sharia courts.[122]. So Mr Banerjee, if you are a Hindu and living in Syria, you might be subject to losing all your hands if you steal. Wikiaedia says this about Iraq: It is a federal parliamentary republic consisting of 19 governorates (provinces) and one autonomous region (Iraqi Kurdistan). The country's official religion is Islam. Mr Banerjee wanted facts. He got facts. Now he should go back and question himself and whether he should be truthful or remain an Islamic apologist. And if he is not a Muslim, he should stay away from Iraq, Libya and Syria because he will automatically become a second class human if he visits these countries..
