God Attacks! and the End-times Inquisition

With the world's top military experts all saying war is about to break out between Israel and Iran, it can hardly be called "prophetic" to say this war will happen. And since Russia is the chief backer of Iran, few eyebrows would be raised, if one were to somehow implicate them in the coming events.

I have never seen Russia as a major player in ME end-times events. They have been involved, as suppliers of military equipment to both sides (The Russians armed the Palmach against the Arabs in 1948); but they have shied away from direct involvement. Even the Americans, who fought a major war in Iraq and still have troops in every country in the region, look at the place as a "hot potato" to be passed on to others at the earliest convenience. Iran is not this way: They want to be a major player in the area; and Turkey's Erdogan would like the same for Turkey.

The progression of invasions of Israel in the past were:

1. Iraq (Assyria, then Babylon)
2. Iran (Persia), then
3. Anatolia-Thrace (i.e. modern Turkey -- which through most of its history was associated with the Greeks).

Something along these lines has been unfolding as well, with the following progression of looming threats:

1. Iraq" first the Hashemite monarchy, which opposed the infant Jewish state; then Saddam Hussein, who has imperial ambitions
2. The Iranian Ayatollahs, and
3. Erdogan.

A secular observer in Ezekiel's day, a Sixth Century BCE Daniel Pipes, might have forseen that Persia would exlipse Babylon, then be itself eclipsed from the direction of Asia Minor. As things turned out, the "Gog" of the day (King Croessus of Lydia) was surprized and defeated by the Persian King, then rode with him as his general. Centuries later, the Macedonian Greeks (who had been insignificant in Ezekiel's time) conquered first Asia Minor, then the whole Persian Empire.

National Day of Prayer today. Iran decision on May 12. Korean Summit this month. Lots happening.

Did you know I got kicked out of my church? One of the elders was teaching that Jesus IS God. I privately asked him about it, and got immediately tossed out for my "cavalier attitude". Just for the record, the New Testament never said Jesus is God. It identified the FATHER (Yahweh) as God, and Jesus as his human, adopted son. I'm not really very interested in such thingsm just hasked an honest question. A great shake-up happened in the church, though, because most Evangelicals are married to dogmas such as this. As the End Times come ever closer, I expect the Christians of the world to be busy burning one another at the stake.
