Saudi Arabia, Qatar & EgyptReader comment on item: Israel's Partial Victory Submitted by Robert (United States), Nov 16, 2022 at 12:02 David, I think you haven't given sufficient weight to Dr. Daniel Pipes points. 1. Saudi Arabia has a King and he is more conservative than his ruling son. The King is old, so the Prince will have more leeway to do as he wishes when he assumes the throne - in particular, make peace with Israel. 2. Qatar is a "useful idiot" for Israel and Egypt." The Gaza Strip is on "life support" through the briefcases of money that it brings to Gaza to sustain it. Otherwise, Israel and Egypt would face an economic catastrophe in Gaza that these two countries would be forced to address, probably in the UN General Assembly; Gaza is blockade both by Israel and Egypt, and therefore, by "international (humanitarian) law" responsible for it. 3. Egypt greatest threat is from the Islamists of the Muslim Brotherhood. And Hamas, in Gaza is a Brotherhood offshoot, as is Turkey, and Turkey is also an Islamist, Brotherhood related, administered state. And it, not Egypt, is the foreign refuge for "Brotherhood" Hamas, the enemy of Israel as well as Egypt. So, David, I find no value in your criticism of the "author's" observations. But my view is a bit more rosy for Israel's future (because of my emphasis on the above specific observations).
