Israeli entertainment breakoutReader comment on item: Israel's Partial Victory Submitted by myth (Germany), Nov 17, 2022 at 17:28 Israel's partitial victory extends beyond politics. Israeli entertainment surprisingly launched a succesful breakout by means of a drama tv series. The drama series "Fauda" was a gamble when it was released with both Hebrew and Arabic dialogos. The creators had limited hope of success in Israel let alone abroad. But success came worldwide including the Middle-East. In particular Lebanon's most popular show on netflix was "Fauda". Here's a link to one article: https://plus61j.net.au/australia/mindblowing-israeli-netflix-series-fauda-number-one-lebanon/ To me this indicates communication on an emotional level between the Israeli creators and their Lebanese audience. I can see one reason for this to happen. The tv-show portrays Israel as a middle-eastern country. Most Arabs I meet who have never been to Israel imagine the country as a foreign implant of European culture into a oriental region. From my own experience I would testify that Israel is far more middle-eastern than European. "Fauda" has this subtext emotionally and visually. It is a great achievement. Looking across the wall from Kfar Kila in Lebanon people can see Metula on a hill in Israel. But there is no way of getting across. Do people wonder what it is like across that wall on the hill? I believe yes. TV lets them make the journey. 40 minutes per episode replacing 40 minutes walking if there was no wall.
