As I understand from Daniel Pipes article, this trend is changing and now it is males who constitute the majority of converts. That is the biggest challenge. When only females married to people born in Islamic cultures were converting, it was not so bad yet(although have a look at Murielle Degauque), however when more and more males are adopting radical islam, this starts to grow serious. Yes the stream of converts is still shallow, and may good heavens make that it remains so. Yet look - the ranks of Nazis were very thin in 1923, during the "beer putsch", yet what they became in 1933?

What I wanted to say that the principles that underly Christianity and Islam are largely the same, I have listed some of them in my previous posts I see no need to repeat there. Only that in Islam(exoteric, shariatic Islam) these principles have been driven to the extreme, to their final logical conclusion, while in Christianity it has been mitigated by a host of factors to enumerate which would require an article. Despite all these factors, Christianity has also shown its ugly face, especially in XVI-XVII centuries. Although later Christianity lost its battle with the materialist and atheist Reason of Enlightment, yet the totalitarian mindset(one and only truthful doctrine, one true prophet, one true way of salvation etc.) has not disappeared, and various fascist, nazi and communist movements could be regarded as a sort of "secularized christianity", voided of its religious, transcendental contents, but not if its mindset. The difference of Western radical movements with the radical Islam is, that the latter has not been voided yet of its religious contents, but what is more important for the growth and genesis of terrorism and islamism, is the exclusivist mindset itself and not so much the contents with which it is filled.
