Look Closer in the WORD of the LORD - Israel's Future IS the Issue.Reader comment on item: Israel and Congressional Democrats Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Nov 16, 2010 at 19:40 In that you insist we are, so to speak, debating apple and oranges, it is not hard to arrive at that conclusion, IF, that in so saying, we were speaking of such things in a human logical course of reasoning. You mentioned that the point I may have alluded to was missing, which would be true, IF, I were trying to comport myself in a human logical course of reasoning. I am not, so therein lies the disparity. Now in my course of discussion, I did, by a purpose that seems to be misunderstood here, try and provide a reason why there will never, NEVER, be a humanly reasonable course of logic that will provide Israel, not in any terms satisfactory to all: a general peace. I have never said that the United States of America is established in any moral sense to be the arbiter of a peace in the Middle East, for that stature was lost before the 1967 ME war, and has not been a mantle that can be worn now. But this pales in comparison to your assertion that it is blasphemy to assert that the Eternal Sovereign of Israel has not only promised to "maintain" Israel, but to do so at the cost of every nation that has fallen prey to the concept that Israel derives her existence at the benevolence of whatever nations thinks they can contravene the WORD of the LORD concerning Israel. Thinking that Almighty God is not infused in everything that concerns Israel is typical secular thinking. Now, you are correct in saying it is not for me, nor anyone else, to make a determination of Israel's status in this existence; and if you were to correctly understand what I have said, you would have realized that it is the WORD of the LORD that I adhere to in making any assertion of Israel's right to exist, in the very fashion that was described in His promises to Israel. Do I really need to list them? Well, in view of the context of this exchange, maybe it is necessary. We shall skip to some of the highlights, for there is not enough room in this forum to list them all. Start in Deuteronomy, in Mose's song. Then Daniel defines the outline of Israel's entire history, perfected in John's Apocalypse. We are currently in the throes of Zephaniah and are about to enter the specifications of Zechariah if we are to look at this from a chronological perspective, though it must be said all of this is happening according the timeline set by Almighty God, not ours. We could quote the LORD Jesus Christ in Matthew for all of the declarations He has made concerning Israel: and you surmise blasphemy in His words? That's what the Pharisees did. "Ezekiel 37:16) Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and [for] all the house of Israel his companions: 17) And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thy hand. 18) And when the children of thy people shall speak to thee, saying, Wilt thou not show us what thou [meanest] by these? 19) Say to them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which [is] in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, [even] with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in my hand. 20) And the sticks on which thou writest shall be in thy hand before their eyes. 21) And say to them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they are gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land: 22) And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all: 23) Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwelling-places, in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God. 24) And David my servant [shall be] king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. 25) And they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob my servant, in which your fathers have dwelt, and they shall dwell in it, [even] they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David [shall be] their prince for ever. 26) Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. 27) My tabernacle also shall be with them: and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 28) And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for ever." Now tell, pray, in these words of the promise, where Israel is cast off, and how the hope that I have for Israel in them in their future, is blasphemy.
