Pushing Back Agianst Sharia Law

Dear Dr. Pipes,

That was indeed a very interesting interview. I just want to comment on the above statement you made about "pushing back".
The example I love to use is Oklahoma. How can we "push back against Islamism" when a federal judge, Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange, files a permanent injunction against an Oklahoma ballot initiative that would forbid state judges from considering Sharia? The ballot measure, democratically approved, I might add, by 70 percent of Oklahoma's voters, would have amended the state constitution by creating a provision banning the use of Sharia law and international law in court decisions.

This reversal is a great victory for Islamists, CAIR in particular because they were the group who launched the lawsuit. CAIR argued that the law was a violation of guarantees of religious freedom. How can we use the US Constitution of democratically voting to ban Sharia law when our judges reverse whatever we do? It is beyond my limited abilities to find an answer to reforming political Islam.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali has many valid points. She was subjected to the cruel nature of Islam in the early 70's after Khomeini came to power. This, to me, is when the jihad against western values began. It will continue until the west crumbles under the weight of Islamic Sharia and its "law fare" which seems to drain our finances.

I do not believe the current state of Islam can be reversed through reform. Unlike political forces like communism and fascism Islam hold the edge in its combination of political, religious and legal ideologies. It is a force more potent than even Adolph Hitler's Nazism.

I am interested in reading your opinion on this.

Please forgive me if my ideas seem scatter-brained, but I am suffering from a neurological disorder that affects my writing, reading and comprehension. I am hoping for a cure soon.
