I Wish I Could Share Your Optimism about Egypt

I found your article well-written, and your optimism enviable. My problems with it are these: bearing in mind what happened in the Russian revolution of 1917, and noticing what happened in Egypt when Wael Ghonim was not permitted to speak on the stage by the bodyguards of Yusuf Al-Qaradawi. I read that Mr. Ghonim had been scheduled to speak that day. This does not bode well, because I did not read of any support given to Wael Ghonim at this point. I think that in the not-too-long run, Islamists will take over Egypt, as the Bolsheviks took over the Russian revolution, and I think we should be mentally prepared for this eventuality.
