Prof. Eidelberg is correctReader comment on item: My Optimism about the New Arab Revolt Submitted by Ugri (Finland), Mar 5, 2011 at 11:15 "Finally, it needs to be emphasized that the conflict between Islam and the West is fundamentally a theological conflict, a conflict involving the essence of man and the meaning of history. This conflict goes beyond the political and economic and territorial parameters or puerilities of America's and Israel's ruling elites. These predominantly secular elites—politicians and judges, academics and journalists—should read former Director of Voice of America Robert R. Reilly, whose book, The Closing of the Muslim Mind, may open their own minds to the true nature of the conflict between Judea-Christian civilization and Islam." It's curious to note how carefully most writers avoid broaching M.E. issues from the religious point of view. This bashful, politically correct approach, instead of a blunt and straightforward handling could perhaps be traced back to people's upbringing and family traditions, an outspoken approach being deemed unfit for decorum and normal decency. For some commenters the religious aspect might seem too obvious. Hard to tell. Anyway, there's writing on the wall. A very clear writing, with the words Israel and Jerusalem shining bright.
