Ulterior MotivesReader comment on item: What's the Goal in Libya? Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Jun 20, 2011 at 11:00 Like too many other misunderstood situations in the Middle East, Libya is an essential in what will be the circumstances of why NATO is operating outside its original theatre of operations. Libya is being prepared for a different participation in Middle East affairs. In spite of all the rancor and antics of the opposition trying to change the status there, without NATO, the chances of toppling the current regime are marginal. This poses what may be a naïve (yet rhetorical) question: how is it that the Qadaffi forces are still able to keep NATO at bay? More importantly for Americans, why should the current American Administrative Executive have any reason at all to be involved in Libya, except for unstated motives?
