A New Form of Power in LibyaReader comment on item: What's the Goal in Libya? Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Oct 20, 2011 at 15:18 This sounds like a reasonable request/question, doesn't it? Maybe if it was posited in front of an American senate subcommittee we could get some kind of answer that makes sense. But who are we kidding? There may be a circumstantial cause of 'liberating' Libyan oil resources, but Libya's upset was not about fuels, but fueling the 'Arab Upheaval' motives changing the political strata in the Middle East. France, Britain, and Canada will have to pay homage to the new government if they desire to keep the flow of those resources open. While Qaddafi is no longer calling the shots, we'll have to wait to see who is. Then we'll find out if it was really worth it. After all, whose goal was really achieved?
