Dear Mr. ToviReader comment on item: Goodbye Ankara Submitted by Debanjan Banerjee (India), Sep 10, 2011 at 00:16 Dear Mr. Tovi, As I have said the facts on the ground does not support my scenarios at the moment but as you may recognize God has a great many ways to change the ground circumstances after all who would have believed in 1942 that a Zionist state would come into life in the holy land ? My solution to the whole problem is very neat and clear. An one-state solution whereby all peaceful Jews , Muslims and Chrisitans are living together with freedom and dignity in one state in holy land. There should be freedom of conscience and freedom of expression present in that and all the refugees (irrespective of their faths) should be allowed to come back to the region. I believe this is the solution GOD also sought for the holy land albeit something that you may not interprate as you want. Coming back to Turkey's role in NATO , I believe that after the end of cold war , NATO should consider that it must cut down its wasteful and unfruitful ways of operating outside its zones of influence and thereby NATO should positively consider offering Turkey (as the no. 2 military in NATO) as the official role of offering security and peace in the greater Middle East as well as the Mediterranian areas. At present the European states like Greece , Cyprus or Italy are unable to properly maintain law and order in these areas due to their economic and political constraints. As the fastest growing economy in G-20 and the second largest military in NATO , it is the natural duty of the Turks to take on the duty of preserving law and order in the greater Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranian region. I would love to see your viewpoint on this. Take care Debanjan Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
