Dear Mr. ToviReader comment on item: Goodbye Ankara Submitted by Debanjan Banerjee (India), Sep 20, 2011 at 12:02 Dear Mr. Tovi, I believe prominent conservative Zionists which include the likes Richard Cheney , Richard Perl and others had written a memorandum to Pres. Clinton about dethroning Saddam Hussein and creating a new middle East which will worship the US and Isreal as democratic role models. Even now think tanks like Project for New American Century dream things like that. I just want to make certain crystal clear things to you. 1. American intervention particularly the military ones have never ever been liked anywhere in the World since it has never ever ended in anything but death and destruction. e.g. Philippines and Cuba in the 19-th and early 20-th century , Vietnam , Iraq and Afghanistan in the 21-st centuries. There are some odd exceptions like post-1945 Germany and Japan but in my view those nations were already industrialized nations before American involvment. In fact American involvement in both these two countries have resulted in aping of decadent American cultures like evangelicalism and hard rock which has resulted in decliing demographics for both the two countries. So as a whole , American military intervention in any country results in bad things. 2. The main problem behind American failures at nationbuilding lies in American incorrect understanding of cultures of the rest of the World. American elites believed in the superiority of their own culture and have ever since tried to impose it over others. Unfortunately , they have never ever understood whether the host people really wanted the imposition or not. Most of American elite comes from a Scottish heritage which can not be said to be very knowledgable about the rest of the World. 3. American misunderstanding about the general nature of history, Americans have never ever understood that History is a process with ebbs and flows and it is never a standstill. That is why they believe that they can control the recent events in the Arab world with their current policies. Let me tell you clearly , the Arab youth does not evaluate America by her constitution they evaluate her by her performance. And when they see America hugging tyrannical leaders like Israel , Saudi Arabia and Bahrain they of course consider America as their oppressor and rightfully oppose it. 4. America cannot be popular in the Arab world until and unless Muslims are allwoed a greater say in Amreican internal matters. I believe American constitution needs serious upgradation and it needs to be modified suiting the need of the time. Muslims should be sought by the American leadership to express their solutions for the repairing of American constitution. 5. Another point , Muslims must be allowed to preach their message to the American service personnel stationed in places like Iraq , Afghanistan and Libya. This would definitely help Americans to understand Islamic viewpoint much better than most. Submitting....
