off on a tangent

Hi Peter Hall, I am musing over your flint knapper comment re Arabic and the Koran. Reminds me of when I wanted to learn an ancient language, some wag suggested Basque, he then explained that the Basque equivalent transliteration of the word knife is ..."the stone that cuts"... I started to learn Hebrew and was intrigued to learn that the Hebrew for write is " ktoff " this sound, for me , mimics the noise made by a stone maul as it strikes a copper chisel, perhaps carving those ancient Egyptian heiroglyphs...makes you think...
