Sibel Edmonds will best explain to you why Turkish barbarity has never been punished.Reader comment on item: L'Institut d'Égypte – In Memoriam Submitted by Ianus (Poland), Dec 28, 2011 at 14:37 Nikki wrote : "I am from Cyprus and a refugee. I like to know why Turkey can get away taking over our homes, our belongings, killed innocent people and are not recognized in any country and still after 37 years our town was left as a ghost town and no one has done anything to stop it. Why!" I am really sorry for what happened to you and your charming island. It's a heartbreaking experience to see desecrated churches and cemeteries in Northern Cyprus and the old Ottoman red flag of jihad waving there. Yet, if you want to understand why the Turks can behave like barbarians ,but instead of being punished are generously praised, backed and rewarded for their barbarity, you have to learn a little more not about them - I am afraid you have known them too well - but about their mighty protectors and cronies in high places in the country you're writing from. Without the full approval of these powerful protectors and friends of the Turkish state gangsterism Turkey wouldn't have sent a single ship or dropped a single bomb in 1974, let alone would have engaged in wholesale massacres, rapes, robberies and mass expulsions and then impudently asserting that the victim is to blame for everything. What is more, I am sure that if duly put under pressure from the same protectors the Turks would have long evacuated the island and paid heavy indemnities for wanton destruction and crimes against humanity they have committed on the island. Now to see why I am saying this I'd suggest you read part 2 of Sibel Edmonds' "The hijacking of a nation. The auctioning of former statesmen and Dime a Dozen Generals". Sibel Edmonds is an American patriot , an intrepid whistle blower, who relying on her first-hand experience as an FBI Farsi-Turkish-Azeri translator, despite all pressure , threats, gag orders and even the antiquated State Secrets Privilege issued against her by the Department of Justice, has managed to inform the public on the hidden US-Turkish dealings and on how harmful they are to the American people. By revealing what is going on behind the scenes in Washington with dirty and mostly criminally-gained Turkish millions of dollars buying almost daily the nation's key policy makers, business and media people ,retired generals and other greedy opportunists close to power , Sibel Edmonds makes it possible for us to clearly understand why "Turkey can get away taking over our homes, our belongings, killed innocent people and are not recognized in any country and still after 37 years our town was left as a ghost town and no one has done anything to stop it."
