The success of the West to create homogeneous nation states had a lot to do with the creation of their financial wealth thanks to their empire building efforts in the past. The Arab nationalists never had access to that types of financial wealth due to their inabilities to create vast empires alike the Western elites.

Shishir:What an incredibly silly argument!What does wealth have to with creating a nation state?SE Asian states were even more impoverished than Arabs and they managed to get with the program!Atleast Arabs had oil wealth and some Arab states such as Iraq,Egypt and Syria and some sense of pre Islamic histories to draft modern identities.

Debanjan:America , UK , France all have universal expansionary wishes. Judeo-Christianity do have tremendous wills of expansion and it is expanding profusely in Africa and Latin America. Only now in the 21-st century , since the heart of Judeo-Christianity has weakened with the lose of the Western empires , the efforts to expand Judeo-Christianity around the World is floundering.

Shishir:You have conveniently shifted my emphasis from Judaism to Judeo Christian and deliberately muddling religious with political expansionism.I am not stupid to fall for these dirty tricks and the good readers of Daniel Pipes arent either.

UK and France had empires at one point but exactly are they expansionist today.You seem to thoroughly ignorant of Americans debating their international commitments such as stationing troops in Italy,Germany and England.Why do you think Ron Paul has achieved the success he has.

Shishir:Just because an Arab leader is secular doesnt mean he wields power in sober ,judicious manner!Have you been living under a rock for the last 50 years?Neither Gaddhafi,nor Saddam,Mossadegh(he was an Iranian Soviet sympathizer,jeez man do your research) or Mubarak were "propped up" by the West!The West had just tried to make lemonade out of lemons.Yes Henry Kissinger said about the Iran -Iraq war:"Too bad neither can lose" and that America supported Iraq during that war.American certainly didnt encourage Iraq to invade Iran.He was deranged enough to try such a scheme himself!

Debanjan:What works is an ideology which can bring people from different backgrounds and classes as well as linguistic background together and in the case of West Asia that is Islam. That is why Islam is again becoming influential since it never went away.

DebanjanAgain you are living in an world of illusion. Israelis always wanted to conquer all the lands between the river Nile and the river Tigris i.e. from Egypt to Iraq. Have you ever wondered what the two blue lines represent in the Israeli flag. It is the Palestinians whose struggle have coaxed the Israelis to settle within the holy lands for the time being. However Muslims should not be satisfied with it.

Shishir:There is one person here living in the world of illusion. Its the person who believes that paranoid,unsubstantiated and discredited canard that Israel wants to conquer the land between Nile and Euphrates.

Debanjan,you have proven not only thoroughly ignorant in ancient and contemporary history and geopolitics but also prone to poor reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.

I really cant believe a (seemingly) rational adult would parrot such nonsense with a straight face.
