Syrian peopleReader comment on item: Further Thoughts on Not Intervening in Syria Submitted by Stas (Ukraine), Jun 14, 2012 at 02:03 Here we are, once again, debating how to help the poor people of Syria and save their lives, posturing politically (as noted in CNN today with their puff piece about the military preparations and contingency plans for going in to Syria). We wrack our brains, wring our hands and argue about how to save them. We jump up and down and agitate ourselves. Meanwhile, the silence from the other Muslim countries is deafening. They have no intention of intervening unless they get something credible from it. Humane considerations do not even register on the scale. Why should we if they will not? Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: In most cases, the silence is indeed deafening. But in this case, there has been quite a bit of discussion and even intervention by Muslim neighbors. Reader comments (38) on this item
