About the Christians in SyriaReader comment on item: Further Thoughts on Not Intervening in Syria Submitted by Boogieman (United States), Jul 6, 2012 at 02:11 I have one comment about the Christians in Syria, which may sound callous to those who aren't Christian, and even to many who are. If the Islamists take power in Syria and slaughter the Christians, they will be doing those Christians the greatest favor that they could do. The highest calling of any Christian is to die as a martyr for their beliefs. This may not be what most Christians want, but it is a fundamental part of our faith, and so we should be willing to freely admit it. We do not martyr ourselves by committing acts of violence, as the Islamists do. Rather, we become martyrs by allowing those bent on violence to do their worst to us, while we pray to God to forgive them, for they know not what they do. I pray that God strengthens the faith of all Christians who will face such persecution, so that they will be able to face it with joy and not sorrow, for the glory of our Lord.
