Dr. Pipes-How is It That the Pin is Dropping in Syria and No One Will Hear it?

Reader comment on item: Further Thoughts on Not Intervening in Syria

As we hear of the Syrian 'Arab Upheaval' turning the corner and in concert with all the defections (the proverbial rats leaving the ship), the current regime seems now more than ever positioned to implode; leaving all the victim/survivor/partners to sort out the pieces and try finding a path to a new state, if indeed Damascus survives at all.

But the fat lady is not yet ready to sing and Syria is not yet ready (if ever at all) to determine who should be assigned to lead. Many are the factions who would dare to have a say and many are the kibitzers who would reform Syria in their own image. Historically speaking, it does not bode well for Syria.

There are more international entities that appear to have a stake in Syria's outcome than those who find themselves trapped in the post-war residue of political unrest that is just as combustible as the feeling that sparked the 'Arab Uprising' in the first place. Russia, and Iran with its proxy presence, are as imbedded and involved as any and have a defined (and probably vested) interest in how Syria emerges from all of its innate hostilities and tries dealing with all the hostilities coming from abroad.

Syria is being prepared for implosion and no one seems to be prepared for the fallout that is sure to follow.
