Your hopeful optimismReader comment on item: How Terrorism Harms Radical Islam Submitted by Andrew (United States), Jan 10, 2015 at 14:21 Daniel, I hope you're right. That said, to defeat the Nazis, it took a world war and 50mm-60mm casualties. To defeat Communism, it took a Cold War of many decades, in which Communism fell, in part, due to our spending the Soviets into the ground. Neither is likely to happen with the Islamists. In fact, I doubt they care. e.g. look at the latest atrocity of Boko Harum in Nigeria. Look at Paris. A small force in the former case, individuals in the latter, can wreak havoc. Virtually wherever people are being murdered and maimed on the planet, it's being done in the name of "the religion of peace" (Bush 43) or by "the few" (Obama). The leaders of the West are blind, and naive. Shouldn't be possible, but that's the way it is. And both the Nazis and the Soviets were rational, at the end of the day i.e. they wanted to live. The Islamists don't care (maybe the leaders do, they always send the ignorant to do the suicidal dirty work).
