Obama recognizes muslims as a political entityReader comment on item: Assessing Obama's Mosque Speech on Islam Submitted by myth (Germany), Feb 9, 2016 at 09:40 The political nature of the very office of the presidency implies a political statement speaking in a mosque regardless of the content of the speech. The president by choice of muslims as an audience and by a mosque as location recognizes Muslims as a political entity and the mosque as a political institution. That contradicts the secular state which manifests itself in entirely secular institutions. As highest representative of a secular state Obama has just given the secular blessing, note the contradiction, to the muslim population. It is he who pushes all muslims across the line into the camp of politized religion - whether they like it or not.
