Liberal Pandering Recruits For TrumpismReader comment on item: Assessing Obama's Mosque Speech on Islam Submitted by Dave (United States), Feb 13, 2016 at 18:33 We've all heard the facile excuse for taking an exculpatory view of Islam and jihadism: that it will alienate Muslims and lead to greater recruitment for extremist groups like ISIS. That may or may not be true; the allegation seems short on evidence. On the other hand, one thing is far more likely: that PC lecturing and euphemism in the face of Islam and jihadism is proving to be a boon to recruitment for Donald Trump and others like him. After all, when people feel that their legitimate concerns for their well-being are being slighted, a vacuum is created which can be filled by various demagogues and opportunists, as well as by responsible, realistic leaders willing to stand up and speak the truth. Which way things turn out will be interesting, but the panderers are certainly whistling past the graveyard.
