Islamism: A Primitive Idea From The Distant PastReader comment on item: Another Voice Predicting Islamism's Doom Submitted by Dave (United States), Jun 24, 2016 at 09:06 Thousands of years ago, Jews stoned people to death for breaking the Sabbath and for homosexuality, but eventually did away with those practices. Another advance in Judaism was the idea put forth in Genesis 1:26-7, that man was created in the image of God, thereby establishing the concept of the potential worth of all mankind. Today, most major religions embrace the concept of humanity and universal brotherhood. As human populations have expanded and people from different backgrounds and regions have come into contact with each other, ancient tribal animosities had to give way to beliefs which could accommodate the new social realities. People had to live together peacefully if things were going to function smoothly. Now, we are seeing this learning process, which evolved over many centuries, taking place in real-time as the mistakes of Islamism are acknowledged. The last time a primitive, tribal ideology cropped up was in Germany in the 1930s. Let's hope that the demise of Islamism will be less traumatic, and just as fast.
