The coming Messianic Kingdom

Hi, Tovey.

That's an interesting take on things -- the "double death" angle, in particular. I think I found one thing to pick at, though:

You talk about a "Jewish" preeminence. Frankly, I think Judaism has some major deficiencies: witness the sort of crazy relationship Jews have with one another, especially with contrasts like Western Liberal Jew vs. Modern Orthodox Zionist vs. Neturei Karta Holier-than-Anyone complete Lulus.

With the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple, the various Jewish sects went their separate ways. The two most successful ones ensured their survival in radically different ways: The followers of Jesus focussed on proselytizing; and because of this, Christianity has become the world's foremost and most influential religion. The Jews ensured survival by focussing on quasi-tribal matrilineal descent (and truly tribal patrilineal descent, in the case of the cohanim), and by a system of poskening that makes me think of English Common Law. This ensured that Jews would continue as "The few, the proud, the Jews".

While the Jews fight a continual warfare against the twin horrors of extermination and assimilation among their always-more-numerous neighbors, the Christian world has fallen victim to its freely given and freely altered philosophy -- which has morphed, in Europe, America and Australia, into a mixed Christian / Pagan / Jewish "Western Culture" that promotes adultery, promiscuity, greed and hedonism. Neither system has a favorable long-term prognosis. Islam will also fall, because it is a bloody, despicable religion that propagates by coercion and fear.

The Messianic Kingdom will supplant all of the above, through some sort of inner change, after the Muslims, Christians, Atheists, Pagans and Jews all have at one another in a violent, destructive orgy which some predict as "World War III". That coming Kingdom won't have much in common with what we know as "Judaism", "Christianity" OR Islam. It will certainly be "Biblical"; but beyond that, I don't know.
