Not Enough Policy Debate, Too Much TrumpReader comment on item: A Conservative in the Age of Trump Submitted by Dave, Jan 17, 2017 at 20:51 Sorry to be tedious, but aren't the issues more important than Trump the person? To listen to some conservatives, and liberals, the only relevance Russia has is its impact on Trump's electoral validity. There are actually much more important things going on with Russia besides Hillary's e-mails or renegade intelligence dossiers on Trump's alleged sexual misadventures- like Ukraine, Syria or Russia's alliance with Iran. I have never heard Trump utter a single word of criticism of Vladimir Putin and that concerns me a lot more than any rogue computer hacks or titillating dossiers. For some Democrats, one would think that Trump is evil incarnate and that there's simply no way that Beelzebub would ever come up with anything constructive. Yet, hasn't Obamacare been a big disappointment? Maybe the Republicans have some constructive remedies. Does the Democrats' hatred of Trump include his pro-Israel stance? Some of the Left's anti-Trump antics have been so hysterical that they must be garnering significant sympathy for Trump from the uncommitted. At least outgoing CIA director Clapper called out Trump for his naivete over Russia, a refreshing policy disagreement. If politics continues to devolve into gossip, scandals and soap operas, then maybe we should move the nation's capital to Hollywood. With normal politicians, we have the luxury of focusing on their policies. With Trump, we must focus on who he is. Reader comments (60) on this item
