Muslim Palestine has nothing to do with Roman PalestineReader comment on item: Israeli Victory, Palestinian Prosperity Submitted by Prashant (United States), Jan 14, 2022 at 01:42 Dear Dr Pipes, In his letter entitled 'Perplexities of Perennial 'Palestinianism', M Tovey expressed his frustration and correctly said that Palestine was contrived. M Tovey likes to explain everything in terms of biblical prophecies but, in my opinion, he does not have to depend on those to assert that today's (so called) Palestine is contrived. The first thing that Muslims like to do when they occupy a region is that they delink the subjugated population from its history and heritage. "Oh, you had a prophet but that prophet was all wrong", is the Islamic refrain. This refrain leaves no possibility of love for the land. How can you love anything that is all wrong?. So whatever history tells us about the Palestine of the Roman times has no validity in the Islamic way of thinking. Today's (so called) Palestine is only a convenience for Islam to grab the Middle Eastern land that it has not yet grabbed. The first shot at Jerusalem was shot in Nov, 636 by Muslims. Until Muslims go back and comeback as monks, their claims on all lands are contrived. Muslims do not love Palestine or Kashmir or even Pakistan. They only love Islam. It is in the Islamic doctrine. Love for the land is subservient to the love for Islam. They contrive love for the largest piece of land that they can win for Islam at a given time. Have we not seen enough of history to know it? If Israel had been formed on today's Jordan and Israel, Palestine would have been irrelevant for Muslims and they would have been fighting for Levant or whatever that region could be called. Jews might have been angry at the Romans for the wars with Israel in the early centuries. But have we met a Muslim Palestinian who is upset at the Romans? No. But they will be angry at Israel because Israel is what comes between Islam and the leftover Middle Eastern land. Islamic psychology is so easy to understand and explain.
