Re: Richard Lion HeartReader comment on item: King of Pop Michael Jackson and Black Converts to Islam Submitted by B (United States), Mar 8, 2006 at 18:07 Mr. Lion Heart,Quote "The Nation of Islam is to blacks what the KKK is to whites. Although to a lesser extent, after all they never lynch anyone." First, I am what you would say, Caucasian. Do not link me to the KKK in any way. They are how they are because of what they believe. By you linking them to me because of the colour of their and mine skin is racist in itself. I am sure there is Americans of African dissent that would not like you linking them with an Islamist Organization. Second, does it matter how someone killed the other? "Blacks" have killed/murdered whites just as "whites" have killed/murdered "blacks". Murder is murder no matter how it's done. Quote "Young blacks in Jail are attracted to Islam as much as young whites are attracted to neo-Nazi skin heads." True. The recruiters that are in prison, or anywhere else for that matter, prey on young impressionable people that they can mold around their fingers, just and the neo-Nazi groups. They also look for angry people with a chip on their shoulder that they are not willing to rid themselves of. Both do it not just one or the other. Quote "African-Americans never committed any terrorist acts against this country, while a neo-Nazi Timothy McVeigh blew up a federal building to make a point" Ummm…..are you serious? Dr. Pipes just gave an example. "John Allen Muhammad: the Beltway Sniper converted after a bruising divorce." Quote "This country committed a terrorist act against Blacks by enslaving them for centuries. The African-American tactic to fight injustice is non violence not terrorism. So when you try to link Blacks with terrorism it's nothing but racism." Agree to a point. What the Europeans did by in-slaving a people is morally wrong. No one can argue that. Rap is not terrorism. No one can say it is, but the rap of yesterday and today are different. Quote "But there are still rappers who use the craft as a tool to combat injustice. Among them I can name Kanye West" I find Mr. West to be nothing other than a racist. I will expand later. Quote "Right now blacks are dying fighting terrorists in Irak and Afganistan." Yes everyone knows this. Just as there is "whites" doing the same. As far as I am concerned that is colour blind. The statement should read "Right now Americans are dying fighting terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan." Stop making it about race. Are we not all Americans? Quote "Militant Islam is a world wide problem." I could not agree with you more. There are issues in the American society when it comes to race. No one race is to blame. People of every colour are causing problems. No matter how much people like Reverend Jackson and Mr. West may claim all they want is equality, they are part of the problem as far as I am concerned. There are things that are accepted in our society that are wrong. Example: A White man calling a Black man a niger is not accepted, but a Black man can call a White man a cracker is accepted. Why? Both are used in a derogatory manner. There for both should not be used and people that use one or the other should be branded a racist not just one. People like Reverend Jackson preach that the white man owns the black man for the injustices that have been committed. I don't think you can do this. It's like holding a child responsible the acts of their father. Is that morally right? If you say yes them this is what I have to say to you. I, like may others, still don't "own" you anything. Why? Because my first family member that immigrated to this county was in 1918. He was from Sweden. Never seen black person before. His first impression of a black was this. He got off the boat from Sweden wearing the funny looking clothes they use to wear. Some young Irish lads were making fun of him because of this. The only person to defend him and told the Irish lads to shut up and leave the man be was a black man. The other side of my family came from Norway. I have never made anything about race. So stop trying to hold me accountable. I am not saying that you should not do anything to fight the people that are racist or that do racist things. By all means, go ahead, I will support you, but stop lumping all white people into one group. Yes, different cultures will always be different, but if any progress is to be made WE ALL have to forget about "race". I accept you are from a different culture. Do you accept me?
