Moderate Muslims: will they ever join us?

Sir, the strategy of identifying and enlisting the support of the moderate Muslims in our fight against Islamic terrorism, in principle, appears to be a sound one. However it sounds frighteningly simplistic, based as it is on certain assumptions, which, if proven wrong, would place those adopting it at a far more greater risk than the one they face at present.

Firstly, it needs to be understood very clearly that a section of the Muslim community has deliberately chosen to adopt, what scholars like you prefer to call, a " moderate " attitude, in so far as they pretend that they disapprove of the violent misdeeds of their fellow co-religionists, but covertly extending all support and sympathy to them. The best example of what I mean is Mr.Musharraf of Pakistan. This gentleman, while presenting a moderate face to the Western world inorder to make himself acceptable to them, strengthened the viciously terrorist-minded ISI, if only to spite India, by spreading murder and mayhem in Kashmir, taking care at the same time to ensure that his home-grown terrorists did no damage to Pakistan's image abroad.

Is it not true that a large number of terrorists have been provided with safe sanctuary in his country after killing hundreds of innocents in India ? Need I name these terrorists who have been encouraged by this
