To Moderate Muslim: Peaceful islam a convenient....untruth.Reader comment on item: Bolstering Moderate Muslims Submitted by Plato (United Arab Emirates), Apr 29, 2007 at 08:04 Moderate Muslim referring to the Beslan school massacre you say: "... Nothing could make me more angry. Nothing. Because nothing could make Islam look worse. than that. It is so sad and horrible. To think about how they died, it is so sad." Nothing could make Islam look worse? What about the massacre of the Banu Quraiza Jews? And disposing off their women and children in the slave markets, does it make you sad as the Besalan massacre did? What about the blood-letting by Khalid bin Walid, a companion of the Prophet? What about Taimur, another Sword of Islam? What about Gazni and Ghori? Does reading about the massacres of the Prophet, his companions and his followers make you elated? When you read in the Sira and hadith about the prophet ordering the chopping off of hands and legs, blinding and leaving some murderers to die of thirst and heat, does it make your stomach bring up whatever you have eaten? (Bukhari Vol 1, Book 4 No. 234). Moderate Muslim it seems massacres by modern Muslims makes you sad, maybe because you were given the wrong picture of Islam in your home or madrassa. You have been fed this fable of the religion of peace, the Allah-ordained religion for mankind that will bring happiness and prosperity all around. But all you see in Muslim-dominated countries is bloodshed, despair and hopelessness. Hopefully you are now coming to realise that Islam from day one has been drenched in the blood of innocents. Starting from Nahla the time line of Islam is drawn in blood. There has been no let up in the gratuitous shedding of blood in the name of Islam. Conveniently the blood-letting is blamed on the unbelievers. They either conspired to attack Islam in the history written by Muslims (Banu Quraiza) or the victims of Muslim attacks are pictured as aggressors as in all the gazhwas of the Prophet. Why does the name of Islam bother you so much, it is a religion imposed on pain of death on your ancestors. Instead of shrugging it off you continue to tie yourself up in knots trying to prove Islam is a victim rather than the instigator of bloody violence. There are more verses trying to terrorise its readers into belief than encouragement. What else is there for you to be proud of in Islam? Its so-called scholars? Surely those khutbas out of Saudi Arabia that I had posted were by Islamic scholars. The school text books inducing hatred of the Other in innocent and impressionable minds of children in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were also by Islamic scholars. Have you heard of the rulings from a premier school of Islamic learning in India, Deoband. A father-in-law rapes his daughter-in-law. The great scholars of Islam rule that the poor girl be divorced from her husband and now is halal for the father-in-law! Another recent ruling from the centre of Islam, Saudi Arabia. A woman is forcibly divorced from her husband of several years as her family complained that their tribe was of a higher status than the husband's. When the woman resisted this ruling she was jailed. Also visit this site: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=35518 where a Saudi sheikh says that slavery is part of Islam. If these are the rulings of scholars and jurisprudents how can you dispute that such despicable interpretations of your scriptures are possible and cannot be avoided. Muslims will protest loudly and violently when some cartoons are published but these inhuman rulings are taken calmly which leads to the conclusion that the large majority of Muslims have no problem with them. Now read what you wrote: "I cant stress enough how much you have to actually be part of the community before you realize what normal and great people Muslims are." The greatness of Muslims was revealed in all its glory for all to see when the cartoons were published and when those Islamic scholars gave those Islamic rulings. You also write: "But i see the real Islam, the part that has people helping their elderly neighbors with anything they need, the part where people are so nice and kind. and those posting with hatred it your hearts, i understand what you are thinking, but would it be so hard for you to take a step back and say, "are they really that bad" "could i be looking at it wrong." The real Islam that you see is no different from the real Christianity, real Buddhism, real atheism. But the Islam you are not mentioning is the Islam that devalues half of mankind, women, that despises pagans and unbelievers, that says only Islam will be accepted by an intolerant Allah, that has no problem with slave-holding, that keeps moaning about injustices done to it but ignores what Muslims do to others. Your plea to Allah: "may he show his creation their similarities, and show them how to live hand in hand in peace" will be ignored as Allah himself encourages his followers to go after the despised infidels in his Koran time and again. Allah wants his followers to subdue unbelievers and make them pay a poll tax in humility. Allah also admonishes the Prophet for taking prisoners in Badr instead of going for a general slaughter (8:67). Allah showing humanity how to live hand in hand in peace? Give us a break. Read 9:23, 9:29, 8:65, 8:12, 9:05,3:151, 2:161, 4:74 to get a feel of the kind of peace that Allah was interested in. Qur'an 61:2 "O Muslims, why say one thing and do another? Grieviously odious and hateful is it in the sight of Allah that you say that which you do not. Truly Allah loves those who fight in His Cause in a battle array, as if they were a solid cemented structure." Allah got it right this time. Muslims saying one thing and doing another. Calling themselves peaceful and then trying to blow up innocents. Also here is Allah saying he loves those who fight in his cause. What is this great cause? Believing in him being the only god and singing his praise for eternity. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
