ToShakeel: Rasool's vengeance and Ali's fear of AllahReader comment on item: Bolstering Moderate Muslims Submitted by Plato (United Arab Emirates), May 24, 2007 at 04:14 Shakeel you are in brackets and you wrote: [It is not true. Rasool never take personal revenge, if he were to take personal revenges then Meccans were mass murdered not mass forgiven. Personal revenge means to punish someone or teach lesson to appease one's own desire.] Would you murder all relatives and the people of your tribe for having only riled you years ago for insulting their holy symbols and religion if you can get them to accept you as their leader? You have a bigger brain than my pea-sized one. Think on that for a moment. The Rasool had no compunction in having all the Banu Quraiza murdered, who were Jews. If Rasool was a fair person he should also have slaughtered all the Meccans because they did attack him at Uhud and in Mecca whereas the Banu Quraiza were only accused of trying to betray him (without any real proof). His partiality towards his kin was demonstrated when he demanded special treatment for his uncle who was captured at Badr. It was not the mercifulness of the Prophet but rather his nepotism that was on display when he conquered Mecca. I asked you to: "Go read about Abu Afak, Kaf bin Ashraf, Asma Bint Marwan all murdered brutally for being critical of the merciful Rasool." If you have, have you nothing to say except to say it is not true. In that case you are disputing Bukhari, Ibn Ishaq and Ibn Kathir and others, all respected Islamic scholars. The people I named were all victims of pure personal vengeance. Shakeel, your story: [Let me tell you the story of Ali the close companion of Muhammad (sws) Ali was fighting with non-believer and he defeated him by throwing down and putting a sword on his neck. Before beheading him, he asked him to accept Islam and save his life. This infuriated the pagan and he spitted on Ali. When he spat on him, he left him and asked him to go away. Pagan was very astonished on Ali's behavior; he was expecting that Ali would behead him immediately after his spitting on his face but quite opposite had happened. He was so curious to know what Ali has made him to do it. Later he asked him, why this behavior. He replied, I was fighting for God and about to kill you for God, but when you spat on me, I got angry on it and if in that moment I would kill you, then my action was not for God but for my own self, so I let you go free.] An interesting but atrocious story. I hope you have put it through the fire of ilmul rijal and found it not wanting. What Islamic gems are hidden in this story? When a non-believer is at your mercy you can kill him if he does not proclaim the shahada as long as you do it for Allah i.e you can kill an unbeliever for Allah. But if you kill him because you personally hate him it is unacceptable to Allah. And what an admirable pagan. He had the courage to reject a belief that was being thrust on him at the point of a sword by a future rightly guided Caliph, no less. Not only that, he spat at the man making a demand at the point of a sword. I also have a hadith about this rightly-guided Caliph, Shakeel. I cannot recollect the reference at the moment, but it is Bukhari's shahi hadith. Once someone who did not like Ali complained to the Prophet that Ali had sex (i.e. raped) a female captive even before the spoils of the gazwa were distributed. The Prophet told the disgruntled man that Ali deserved even more. The Islamic gems of this story? It is okay to rape freshly captured females even before they are distributed by the prophet if it was Ali who disregarded the rule of waiting until booty is distributed before beginning to enjoy them. The Prophet overrides his own rules for his relatives. Captured females in Islam can be used for sex.
