Let us not forget...

In the news coverage of Obama's initial press conference in Israel today, one face reminded me that no matter what Obama says, doesn't say, does, doesn't do---his true goals and purpose are known only to a very limited circle---of two.

The "face" was that of Valerie Jarrett. As Netanyahu spoke, the camera panned to her. The look of unambivalent fury was there for any who cared to see it. She is Obama's principal confidante, his eminence grise. As he has written and revealed several times, the president makes no decision on policy or anything else---without first consulting Valerie Jarrett.

Who is she? She is a far-Left member of the old Chicago black elite, an aristocrat within those circles. Like Obama, we can assume she is also out for revenge---via a radical transformation of the United States, where the focus is on redistribution of wealth and power---out of the hands of whites and into the hands of people of color, with echoes of Radical Reconstruction informing the entire undertaking.

She and perhaps the president as well, regards Israel as a partly colonialist enterprise, a usurper-nation of Jews who have taken over land that belonged to Arabs and displaced them "on their land." That's how she sees it. And given that there seems to be a fury at the "idea" of a Jewish state that shapes her perceptions, one can guess reasonably that Valerie Jarrett shares the anti-Semitism that seems prevalent throughout black America.

At this late date, "why" these things are so is less to the point than that they define the Obama presidency. I maintain that Valerie Jarrett's presence in the Middle East right now means that, no matter what Obama sees or hears during each day, it's what he and Jarrett discuss each night in private that will shape his conclusions and plans for "what comes next." If I were Netanyahu or any other Israeli leader, I'd do all I could to improve relations with Obama, but never forget who the president is---in light of the company he keeps.
