A SopReader comment on item: Explaining Obama's Fixation with Israel: Linkage Submitted by Kepha Hor (United States), Mar 23, 2013 at 15:27 President Obama's visit to Israel is a bone thrown late to America's Jewish voters. He calls for Israeli compromise while ignoring how his Falastin Arab honor guard shot at pictures of Israeli leaders while he was there. But I am not sure that the Arab-Israeli peace process is strictly the obsession of the Left. Presidents Reagan and George Hebert Walker Bush were in no hurry at all to undo what Carter had accomplished at Camp David and were only happy as the Arab-Israeli peace process advanced from there. Nor was the younger Bush opposed to an Israeli-Arab peace. I think any American president, right or left, who makes a breakthrough in this area would be very proud of himself. Or, conceivably, be very grateful to God Almighty if that President be pious. However, I agree with Dr. Pipes that Obama probably sees the Mideast conflict through the anti-colonialist prism, with Israel in the role of the evil settler state--and never mind that the Arabs themselves came out of the Hijaz and Nejd as oth century empire-builders and colonists. The failure of Obama's media shills and his administration to confront the savage hate education taught to the Arab and Muslim young worldwide or the disgraceful keeping of the fourth and fifth generation descendants of an-Nakhbar stateless refugees makes it clear where this administration's sympathies lie.
