It goes back before 1967Reader comment on item: Explaining Obama's Fixation with Israel: Linkage Submitted by Kepha Hor (United States), Mar 23, 2013 at 16:15 Actually, the US supported the 1947 partition plan that called for the internationalization of Jerusalem. And, speaking as a reactionary, non-Dispensational Calvinist Christian who sees believers in Jesus (Jews or Gentiles) as the elect people, I take issue with your take on the deicide question. Any of us who is a sinner (all of us born through ordinary generation, according to the Westminster Catechisms) bears guilt for sending the Messiah to the cross, not just the Jews (and Romans, since the creed has always saif "suffered under Pontius Pilate", and contrary to so much drivel written today, the New Testament does not whitewash the Romans by any means). That is how deep and serious our sins are. We cannot atone for them through our good works, so our salvation depends on God becoming man, working righteousness for us, offering the final atonement for our sins, and conquering death on our behalf. Also, knowing something of how elite America works, I note that at various times in our modern history the jettisoning of received orthodoxies has been an unspoken qualification for joining the elite. At this point, the anti-colonial narrative of the mid-20th century New Left has more input into the O's anti-Israel position than any possible reading of the New Testament or Qur'an (the latter-named is something I do not believe).
