Egypt is a normal country

Poor Egypt. It's choices seem to be to be shuttled between radical Islamicism on the one hand and a kind of non-European Fascism on the other.

I'll be ready to believe that Egypt is enjoying real change when I see its state-run media ceasing to publish _The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion_ and rants that blame the USA for problems which only Egyptians can fix for themselves. Our "friend" Mubarak was no better in this regard than Nasser or Morsi.

Further, the apparent polarization of the country certainly bodes ill for its future.
