Egypt: Help from Israel?Reader comment on item: Egypt after Morsi: Joy and Worry Submitted by Ed Cutting (United States), Jul 4, 2013 at 11:22 First, was it just a peace treaty IL & Egypt signed, or are they allies? Notwithstanding that, although it makes everything more interesting, I'm wondering about Israeli aid to Egypt -- Natural Gas comes to mind but you mention grains being a more pressing crisis. I am still thinking in a cold war mindset -- us v. commies and not Israel versus Islam but that is what it largely is (right?) and hence the same tactic we used with the US Flag on grainbags, except make it an Israeli flag and the message would be very clear -- we got rid of the Moslem Brotherhood/radical islamists and the Jews are giving us food and my children won't die tonight because I could feed them. Because the Jews gave us food. QED, they can't be all bad. They fed my family. Praise Allah. I apologize for using "The Jews" for "Israel" but I believe that is how the average (illiterate?) Egyptian is going to see this and from a strictly Cold War standpoint, this would make perfect sense. Does it here? One more thing, I'm not saying that IL isn't a humane/humanitarian country that would help abate starvation wherever it could, like any decent Western Country would (and that's what, a dozen now?) -- I am talking about tactics to shape the post revolution revolution era to keep a friendly country next door.
