In the olden days one would attack the hand that holds the weapon and not seek to destroy the weapon in isolation.

If Israel is seriously convinced that nuclear weapons in the hands of Iranians will translate into a nuclear attack then they must declare war on Iran now. Back in the olden days that is how it was concluded. When states disagree on matters both vital and non-negotiable war would be the consequence.

I believe it was Nietzsche who preferred a sincere hostility over a fluffy friendship.

"Lieber aus ganzem Holze eine Feindschaft als eine geleimte Freundschaft"

There it is: Nietzsche's choice between a P5+1-fluffly friendly US and a sincere enemy in Iran.
