In the final analysis, I don't think Israel will attack Iran until it has to -- either because of direct Iranian attack on Israel (including attack by Hizbullah and/or Islami Jihad), or because of its production of nuclear arms beyond a threshold of tolerance. I doubt that such a time will happen for at least a few months; because Iran still has much to benefit from playing along with the great powers and raking in those billions of dollars in Western contracts. Right now, PM Netanyahu has two main issues on his plate:
He has a tough job; but he's not alone in this. At the moment, I don't think Angela Merkel's job is any easier. The difference is that Netanyahu and Israel have experience in dealing with national crises; but Merkel and the German people are getting on-the-job training.
